FACEBOOK PARTNERS WITH COOLLINK,SET TO LAUNCH FREE WI-FI IN LAGOS

Facebook is set to deploy ExpressWifi in Lagos. ExpressWifi is a new program (Already launched in India) that lets phone owners purchase data from local internet service providers at an affordable rate.

Facebook would be partnering with Coollink, a Nigerian ISP and System Integrator based in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano to achieve this in Nigeria. Although the service is set to launch in a couple of days, it has started operations in some parts of Lagos, one of such parts is the Ikota Shopping Complex at Lekki.

Knowing Facebook’s marketing framework, the next thing on my mind was, hope it would be ads-free? But judging from India’s offerings, Facebook’s Internet service would come without any advertisement.

Now, to the interesting part, ExpressWifi would offer cheap Internet services to Lagosians, and by cheap, I mean N1,600 for 5GB cheap!

No kidding! Other data plans include:

You can sign up for a 14-day trial, which gives you a free 100MB per day. However, apart from the Ikota shopping complex, no other coverage areas have been mentioned.
