Is Investing $700 Million In The Renaming Of Los Angeles’ Staples Center

A 20-year contract has been reached between and AEG, the owner and operator of the Staples Center in Los Angeles, to rename one of the country’s most prominent sports and entertainment arenas.

The official home of four professional sports organizations — the Lakers, Clippers, and Sparks in basketball, and the Kings in ice hockey — will be renamed Arena. Over 15 GRAMMY Awards shows have been held at the facility. The 2018 GRAMMY Awards, which will take place in January, will also be held at the same location. A person familiar with the arrangement informed The Block that has agreed to pay AEG $700 million for the branding rights. This is one of the most significant sponsorship agreements in sports history.
