On WhatsApp and other platforms, sticker packs are a popular alternative to emoji, providing a broader variety of methods to express yourself. The one drawback to WhatsApp’s sticker feature is that you can’t make them from within the app, but that’s about to change.
Mukul Sharma (h/t: 91mobiles), a serial tipster, has discovered a button in a beta version of WhatsApp that allows you to make your own stickers. Sharma stated that the feature is currently operational and accessible through WhatsApp Web.
We were able to confirm that the tool is available to us as well, allowing us to generate stickers from photographs stored on our computer. In addition to precisely snipping out the picture, cropping/rotating, and undoing/redoing changes, the sticker production feature includes tools to accurately snip out the image, crop/rotate, and undo/redo modifications.
This would be a nice improvement from the present scenario, which requires users to download separate sticker apps from the Google Play Store. The prompt doesn’t link users to a specific app; instead, it searches for “WASticker.”
There’s no official indication on when this feature will be available to everyone (not just beta users), nor on if it will be available on WhatsApp for smartphones. However, creating stickers on a mobile device appears to be a no-brainer.
